Turn on 2 Step Verification in Facebook

  1. Log into Facebook on your computer. The quickest way to enable this extra security is by logging into your Facebook account on a computer.
  1. Open the Settings menu. Click the ▼ in the bar at the top of the page and select “Settings”.

  1. Select the Security option in the left menu. This will open the Security Settings page.
  1. Click the Edit button next to the “Use two-factor authentication” option. This will open the two-factor authentication Window.

  1. Click on the Get Started button. This will begin the setup process for two-factor Authentication.
  1. Chose a verification method. You can choose between a reviving a code via a text message or an authentication app. Here select Text Message.

  1. Enter your mobile number (if prompted). You need to have a phone number associated with your Facebook account. Facebook will send your code to this number if you can’t use the Code Generator tool. You can’t turn two-factor security on without entering your phone number.

You’ll be sent a text when you enter a new number. Enter the code that gets texted to you to verify your number.

  1. Enter your password (if prompted). You’ll need to enter your password here to verify your identity.

  1. Verify your phone number. Enter the code that Facebook texted you to verify your number.
  1. Decide if you want to get notifications about new posts, messages, etc. Afterwards, click on Finish.
