Turn on 2 Step Verification in Facebook
- Log into Facebook on your computer. The quickest way to enable this extra security is by logging into your Facebook account on a computer.
- Open the Settings menu. Click the ▼ in the bar at the top of the page and select “Settings”.
- Select the Security option in the left menu. This will open the Security Settings page.
- Click the Edit button next to the “Use two-factor authentication” option. This will open the two-factor authentication Window.
- Click on the Get Started button. This will begin the setup process for two-factor Authentication.
- Chose a verification method. You can choose between a reviving a code via a text message or an authentication app. Here select Text Message.
- Enter your mobile number (if prompted). You need to have a phone number associated with your Facebook account. Facebook will send your code to this number if you can’t use the Code Generator tool. You can’t turn two-factor security on without entering your phone number.
You’ll be sent a text when you enter a new number. Enter the code that gets texted to you to verify your number.
- Enter your password (if prompted). You’ll need to enter your password here to verify your identity.
- Verify your phone number. Enter the code that Facebook texted you to verify your number.
- Decide if you want to get notifications about new posts, messages, etc. Afterwards, click on Finish.
