As advised by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, does drinking Tibetan black tea prevent COVID-19 infection?

Well, It’s FALSE!

The recent fake news on “ Advice from His Holiness the Dalai Lama to drink black tea in order to prevent COVID-19 ” on 16.03.2020, has been circulating in our Tibetan community and for the fact that most people followed it without having any exact confirmation.

But how accurate is it?

There is no study of drinking Tibetan black tea that proves that it can prevent COVID-19 infection, the circulation of the rumor was shared and forwarded with a religious belief.

Later that same day, after a few hours, The Private Office of H.H the Dalai Lama had to respond to the rumour and made an announcement clarifying that neither any prayer session was held nor any advice to drink black tea to prevent COVID-19 was given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama..

It initially took place when the number of covid-19 cases increased in India and people around our community started panicking of this pandemic. In the midst of it, a trend setter started a rumor “ His Holiness the Dalai Lama is observing prayers and advised everyone to drink black tea in order to prevent COVID-19 ” via group chat in various social media platforms and in the following few minutes, this was spread vigorously in our whole Tibetan community.

Voice Of Tibet (VOT) has also elucidated on the matter. Kindly check the link below for any further clarification.
